Industrial Area
Charleston’s Industrial Area is located on Illinois Route 130 and Eastern Illinois Railroad on the north side of Charleston.

The Industrial Area is 12 miles from Interstate 57 via Illinois Route 16 to the south, 19 miles from I-57 via Illinois Rt. 133 to the north, and 18 miles from I-70 via Illinois Route 130 from the south. Eastern Illinois Railroad connects to the CSX Railroad Terminal at Metcalf, Illinois and the CNIC Railroad Terminal at Neoga, Illinois.

The Industrial Area is located within an Enterprise Zone which features potential development incentives such as:

  • Partial Sales Tax Exemptions on Tangible Property
  • Partial Sales Tax Exemptions on Pollution Controls

The Enterprise Zone expires in 2020. Assistance for funding from state programs is also available.
